Google MayDay Algorithm Update
There is currently and has been a little buzz around the webmaster world about the latest algorithm change that was released at the beginning of May that is being referred too as Mayday. Some webmasters have seen a drastic decrease in organic traffic, while others have experienced a boost in traffic. The common thing that has been reported so far or effected has been long tail keywords or in other terms long tail searches.
Google persists that this is their way to generate more quality sites for long tail keyword results and that this may not be a temporary change. According to Matt Cutts this could be here to stay.

Video Search Engine Optimization Tips
Videos, we all know the power of videos and how about 80% of the Internet Users watch them regularly. Video is of course also known as the new text of the Internet. We know and have always known that text does not always compel to everyone, let’s face it, not everyone likes to read. So the question has now popped up, How do we compliment these individuals who prefer video and may be visual learners?
Well as you may have figured out, Video is the new driving force to successful online learning, gaining information, and of course entertainment. Now since we know this, we now have to think about incorporating video into our sites to gain a new market, new traffic, and of course new loyal visitors.
As we go deeper into the mind of a typical SEO, How do we utilize the benefits of video and perhaps do some video search engine optimization? Or is this even possible? Can we optimize video for better rankings in organic listings? Well believe it or not, we can. We’ve known for a little while now that Search Engines such as Google are understanding video. This means that your video on your site just isn’t a block of crap that means nothing, now it does, Google is finding the way to get into those videos to truly understand what they are about and the placement of this video in Search Results. It’s crazy, but it’s happening. At this pace, maybe Google figures out Flash, and then the flood gates open to a beautiful eye popping web, but we should be a ways away before the flash resurrection begins..

Brands in Search – Google Updates
So perhaps are looking for a digital camera. You type in the term into the Google search box and then hit enter. You are then taken to the search results page, where you are able to look through both the paid and organic links on the page. Perhaps, during this search you notice that you are not familiar with any of the top results. You know what you were looking for, but unfortunately, you just couldn’t at that moment place the brand you were looking for.
Then you suddenly notice at the top of the page, just above the top PPC listings, that there is a new link based addition called the Google Brand listing. In this particular case you notice that most of the major brands for that popular search appear in the links: Canon, Sony, Olympus, and Kodak.
Ah, there you go, the brand you were looking for and another option to refine the results. Upon clicking on the link you are taken to a page that narrows the search results further, adding the brand in front of the term digital camera.
What this means – This is definitely a boost for brands and really puts more emphasis on branding their products or company. This may present some benefits for the user as well, helping them located notable brand name products easier than it had been before.
The effectiveness is currently unknown by us, and we hope Google does release some information on the performance of this option soon. But for now it does present some accountability for optimizing for long tail keywords and perhaps branded terms such as: Canon Digital Cameras, Sony Digital Cameras, even taken it a step further narrowing it down to type, mega pixels, so on. More informed searchers looking for more detailed results can produce a more targeted audience that may convert at a higher rate than a broad search result.
Are Interactive Videos increasing Conversions?
It truly has been amazing at how fast Internet technology has grown and how new technology has increased the tools to successfully operate a business online. This is specially true with online video, which has increased the overall entertainment and informational industry, providing user with visual data, which of course is exceptional for those who are a visual learner. Now more than ever online videos present a perfect and viral solution for marketing your brand.
Sites like Youtube have given companies an avenue to spot their message, giving them access to millions of potential buyers. Now with enhancement and technology improvements, adding marketing ads to video is something that is creating waves in Internet Marketing.
We shared before how we felt that videos increase conversion rates and better your user experience visually. Here is another example of what videos can do to both market your product and provide your users with a better experience. As noted on Reel SEO.
Icons for Website Design
Let’s face it, not all of us are graphic artists and this can really hamper the overall design of the website. Yes we would all love the ability to be able to create our own graphics and icons for website design, but unfortunately, some designers are pushing time, trying to lay down that last bit of code, too busy learning, JavaScript, PHP, ASP, PERL, C#, C+, Java, MYSQL, Visual Basics, and other types of programming, scripting, and database management systems used with in the total process of web design. And this isn’t including the current emphasis on Internet Marketing and SEO.
Time is our biggest enemy, and because of this, some designers lack the time needed to inquire new skills as graphic designers, so to overshadow this graphic design flaw, designers will hire graphic designers, or simply find simple, but quality icons they can use royalty free or are available for purchase.
One of our favorite online outlets for information pertaining to web design and graphic design is Smashing Magazine. If there is ever a place that is filled with too much useful information that will take you months or even years to utilize the unbelievable resources and tutorials available on their online magazine, they are it, which is why we love to mention them as our favorite read on the web.
So for those who are looking for a long list of Icons for website design, they offer a fabulous list called 50 Useful Icon Sets for your next Design. Enjoy and there is plenty of useful icons available, which should allow you to focus more on the coding aspect of your designs and less on the graphic side, well they are only icons, but any little bit helps.

Ever Heard of Getting Sued For Leaving Negative Feedback on eBay?
So have you ever heard of anyone getting sued for leaving negative feedback on eBay? Well if you haven’t than now you can say you have. Supposedly Michael Steadman of Cap Canaveral is being sued by eBay seller Elliot Miller of Miami Beach for leaving Negative feedback and ruining Miller’s 100% feedback.
You can read the full Story Here……> Man Sued over Negative eBay Feedback from Seller.
Is this the beginning of more to come? Interesting enough we live in a copycat world, so if Miller perhaps receives some type of restitution, then you can bet others will follow, perhaps, the buyer friendly eBay may have to look at their review process that at this moment puts sellers at a disadvantage, just one or two bad marks could greatly reduce the sellers ability to sell on eBay.
Of course, we do not know that whole story behind this and if Steadman did receive a bad apple in the mail, then the seller should be accountable, but with the refund received, Steadman could of been a little less vicious on his rating.
eBay buyers do not understand the value of their feedback and the effect the rating has towards the sellers overall business. The review, rating, or 5 star system can virtually kill lower volume eBay sellers, specially those who are pulled from top seller status from one or two negative feedback’s and low 5 star ratings. This effect could mean removal of top seller status, which in turns takes away their ability to place well in results, give them the ability to run featured ads, and of course cost them greatly, making them loss their discounts on seller fees. And because of the system, the seller has no way of repairing the low 5 star ratings, if he or she isn’t allowed to know who left them, which makes the ability of the seller to do right with the buyer impossible.
In true fairness, the current seller rating systems needs an overhaul, one that isn’t so damaging to a sellers ability to sell on eBay. This is life people, we will have mistakes, accidents will happen, it is a fact of life. Seriously have you ever made a mistake? If you say you haven’t, then you are only lieing to yourself. And if you have been an eBay buyer, you know the Majority of the time that you have received a wrong product, or perhaps a defective one, the seller will usually bend over backwards for you, at least the good ones.
The current system needs to be revamped, will it, probably not, but at least, when value towards feedback has such an effect on the ability for the seller to sell, then it should be a number one priority of eBay, there has to be a better way, perhaps eBay should take a page from the system at Amazon, where I believe is more fare to both the seller and the buyer than eBay’s ratings system.
Sometimes what is lost in the review process is that the Buyer must understand that he or she is leaving feedback for the seller, like how fast did they ship it? Was the packaging proper? Did he, she, or they answer questions I had correctly? The feedback should be geared more toward the seller, not more about the product. This can be understandable if the product is perhaps used, but for a new product, well, the seller sells it, but doesn’t manufacture it, get it?
Sellers can prosper on eBay, but it does cost. The fees are exceptionally high and the product market price usually drains pretty quickly meaning losses or breaking even for most sellers to even compete in the system, which really makes the review process that much more important, putting the emphasis on volume to meet a decent margin.
Note to buyers, please do yourself a favor and the wonderful sellers of eBay, pay attention to the ratings you put forth, understand that you could negatively damage a business with a negative remark, don’t jump the gun, contact the seller, negotiate something that will make you happy and pull yourself away from leaving negative feedback, specially if it is avoidable. Sellers want customers for life, not just one sale, if you present your problem, chances are they will bend over backwards to make things right and to keep you as a long time customer.
